Art in Thai Restaurants
Not only will you get great food, but take a look around your favourite Thai restaurant and you’ll discover beautiful Thai artwork.  Here are a few examples.

Golden Thai

Covering the back wall of Golden Thai Restaurant is a stunning mural of the Royal Barge gliding down Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River.  The mural was installed when the restaurant was opened over 15 years ago. The ship, called Subanahongsa was created in 1782, by then King Rama 1. When it began to show wear, a successor was built in 1911. The beautiful gold-covered vessel is used n special occasions to carry His Majesty King Bhumibol. It was used in 1996 on the occasion of His Majesty’s Golden Jubilee.

Thai Bistro
It catches your eye when you enter this cozy restaurant on North Yonge Street. It’s a mural covering most of the south wall. It depicts Thai classical dancers, resplendent in their richly ornate costumes. Created by Prasert Krachodnog of Toronto.

Mai Thai
Casually placed on the bar are two pieces of magnificent Bencharong ceramics. Meaning five colours in Thai, Bencharong is highly prized for its vivid colours and gold details. It’s a favourite gift item.

Thai Bangkok

Spirit House: It sits outside of every building in Thailand, carefully placed. It’s the Spirit House, and Thais place fruit and flowers on it, to appease the spirits. This practice goes back to the days before Thais embraced Buddhism. Today these small buildings on their posts are part of Thai culture.

Sala Thai Restaurant

Rubber is a natural resource in Thailand's South. Thai artisans use this product to create a charming wall display depicting a scene from Thailand's mythical history.
